Introducing the I2I Blog!
http://chicagoi2iblog.wordpress.com/
Stay up to date about i2i events and discuss important topics with other i2i friends and allies. If you have an idea for a blog or would like to contribute a guest blog, feel free to contact us!

WHAT IS i2i?
i2i (pronounced "eye-to-eye,"stands for Invisible to Invincible) is a community-based organization that celebrates and affirms Asian/Pacific Islanders who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning or Queer

in the Chicago area.
i2i members: Do you have an announcement or service you'd like to share on the website?  Submit it to Dwight for possible inclusion, depending on space, etc.

This would be geared toward members who come to support i2i events on a regular basis.  No outsider advertising or spam please.  We want to support queer asian endeavors.
i2i Core member Dwight's novel THE PROSPECT OF MY ARRIVAL is available on Amazon.com as both paperback and kindle book!  Click on the cover for a direct link.  This book was a finalist in the Amazon novel contest.  It's about a human embryo that's allowed to preview the world before deciding whether to be born.  There's a queer romantic storyline in the book which has been described as elegant, chilling, moving and satirical.
i2i member Kevin Kumashiro was editor for the book RESTORIED SELVES: Autobiographies of Queer Asian/Pacific American Activitists, published by Routledge. It features pieces by Helen Zia, Kevin himself, Alain Dang who some of us have met thru NQAPIA, trans activist Pauline Park, and a high school activist!

This book is right up i2i's alley and can be purchased on Amazon.  Click the cover above for a direct link.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN i2i?

* Will Tutol is organizing a workshop dealing with the "Culture of Silence in Asian American Life" for March. Asian culture is known for its silence. How does a tendency to avoid/not confront/deny impair our ability to flourish and create change? Details to be announced.

* Liz Thomson and i2i are making preparations for the next Dyke March in the Argyle/Uptown area. i2i, as an proud lgbt asian org will be spearheading this historic march through an Asian American neighborhood.

* Dwight Okita is nominating i2i's youngest member Kevin Lee for the 2012 Youth Courage Award, which honors LGBT youth who demonstrate courage in the face of adversity due to their sexual orientation. Kevin shared his story of coming out as part of i2i's "Story of My Pride" event.

* i2i is planning a Core Member retreat to focus on strategic planning. There will be no special events in April, May and June 2012. Only the monthly socials. Ryan Viloria will be posting further for announcements of details on the listserv.
