i2i CORE RETREAT 2009
On Feb. 28th, i2i had its first Retreat.
It was a five hour event hosted by Elisa, Michael and Will at Asian Human Services. They did a great job and much thanks to them. The time flew by as some great ideas and recommendations were presented. The Core decided to move forward on the following for 2009's calendar:
-- A team will work on an event celebrating i2i's fifth anniversary.
-- Some members will work on a "bridge" event between May (Asian Heritage Month) and June (Gay Pride Month)
-- An i2i brochure will be developed to help spread the word about i2i (Maggie, Dwight and Elisa volunteered)
-- Liz and Dwight will be stepping down as co-facilitators this summer to allow others from the Core to step forward and grow in leadership. Dwight and Liz of course will continue to be active i2i Core members and be available to the new co-facilitators in a mentoring role.
Those are a few of the highlights as I can recall. Michael will be providing more detailed minutes in April. Thanks to everyone for their participation. (We look serious in the pictures, but we had a lot of fun too.)

Liz and Dwight have talked about ways to expand the i2i Core Group. Dwight and Liz now will discuss the various members who come to activities and work behind the scenes and in front of the scenes. In recognition of their past, present and future contributions to the vitality of i2i -- they are reaching out to invite individuals to become part of the core. Watch for new members as they are added. And hey -- don't be shy. You can also be pro-active and ask to be part of the Core Group. DECISIONS ARE NOW MADE BY CORE MEMBERS
The bigger decisions of i2i are now made by the Core members. So if you want a voice in the direction and policies of i2i, the Core is the place to be!
BENEFITS TO BEING IN THE CORE?
* You have a bigger voice in decision making in i2i (proposing exciting new events, deciding policy for the group, you get to bond with a great bunch of queer APIs, etc.)
* Your name gets listed officially on our quite fabulous i2i website as a Core Group member! Looks good on a resume to show your public service and volunteer efforts. (If you don't want to post your full name, that's ok too.)
* We have a lot of fun together. You help us advance in our mission to build a dynamic, queer API community in Chicago!
